I gave it 2 stars because the mirror isn’t a mirror, but a metallic plate. The ballerina is blonde and blue-eyed, and I thought it was darker hair. The clasp doesn’t meet in the front without some effort to push it together. I bought it for my granddaughter, and it’s sufficient for a tiny girl’s play jewelry or I would have returned it.I initially bought this jewelry box for my two year old daughter as her first jewelry box. She was just starting to really be interested in mommy's jewelry box along with the items inside, so I thought she'd really enjoy one of her own to put her own jewelry in. When I opened it up I realized immediately that this is not a toy for a small child. This is a beautiful and delicately made jewelry box intended for older girls, probably ages 5 or 6 and up(depending on the child I supposed). My daughter's great grandfather buys her diamond rings every calendar holiday so this is the perfect little jewelry box to store them until she is older. It is not a very sturdy box, I don't think it was made to be played hard with by young children. So if you are looking for a jewelry box for a toddler or child under 5 this is not the one to buy, it is too delicate. It is absolutely beautiful and whimsical, perfect for that "little princess" and her room. I found it to be a great buy, especially for the price, the construction has an antique feel to it and it is small enough to sit on a bureau or on a shelf and it one of the few boxes I have found to be "classically pretty", since everything lately is cartoon related somehow, and is also timeless and won't be outgrown for a long time. Long story short - I'd buy it again.Ballerina would not turn at first. Had to bend it a little to get it to twirl. I dont know if it will last at all. It looks nice but function is yet to be seen.I got this jewelry box as a gift for my 3-year-old niece. She absolutely loves it! It's not the highest construction, but it's solid enough for everyday use. She did flick at the ballerina, which made it stop turning for a moment. Winding the box again solved that problem. The winding mechanism is a little hard for 3-year-old fingers, but she was able to give it a small turn - enough to satisfy her attention span.This jewelry box was pretty much what I expected based on the description. It is small but cute and was appropriate for a young girl as her first jewelry box. I was very satisfied with the box itself, however, the box it came in was very worn, ripped and old looking so I had to take it out and put it in a nicer box for gift giving.My niece really liked it. The ballerina only lasted a few months, but I blame that partly on her brother who kept messing with it :)Could have been the cutest gift, but was not.The mirror is not shaped as a heart. First problem.The music is fantastic and in the end we bought it for that specific tune. First good point.After less than 2 weeks of DD (age 6) opening it, the poor ballerina sprung into action (literally) and this caused the poor ballerina to fall apart: the belly separated from the tutu, the tutu separated from the legs and the legs came off the little spring that triggers the dance.We tried to fix it once, and it worked.Unfortunately once it breaks, it will bvreak again. And it did. And when we tried to put it all back together we ended up pushing out one tiny screw that triggered the music.Not a success story.But DD loved it while it lasted.This is my granddaughter's favorite toy. She opens it up and kisses the ballerina. I thought she might easily break it being only two years old but it still works and it has had some close calls. She has a couple of plastic necklaces and bracelets inside which she loves to put on when she comes to grandma's house. She hasn't figured out how to wind it up yet so she still needs help with that. My daughter loves it because of the ballerina and music, but it’s just cardboard with paper glued on. The stickers on it weren’t put on the best either. I had ordered 2 and one came broken.It s very cheap little music box. After one hour playing with it, we had to fix it, the ballerina was not turning.But my daughter loves it. She is very happy with it...We received the jewelry box and the ballerina wouldn’t turn. Unfortunately it was a birthday gift for our daughter. We returned it.For its price the product is great, when wound up music plays beautifully... but if you are looking for a high quality product, know the external aesthetics leave something to be desired. The flower image wrapped around the box itself wasn't exactly smooth, and the seam where the image meets is noticeable. That said, the 4 year old recipient loves it!
